2024 update
I've neglected this blog for too long. My last post was announcing Book 2 in my Into the Dark Woods series, which was King in Chains. It came out in 2017. So, yeah, long time.
It's taken me six years to write and rewrite The Shapeshifter's Heart, Book 3 in the series. This was a difficult book to write for a couple of reasons. I blame it mostly on lack of time. Being a single mother of two struggling teenagers during Covid and even post-Covid has been challenging for me. The other reason, if I'm being honest, is for a long time, I was worried it wasn't going to be as good as the first two. And lack of motivation kicked in. There were years I hardly wrote. Other years I'd write on and off and would finally finish a draft only to go back in to edit and realize I'm actually doing a full-on rewrite. Again.
Thankfully, I'm finally near the end of what will be my last rewrite. No more fixing and fussing. Off to the editor it goes. And I'm excited to say that all the hard work and self doubt and pushing myself to do right by these wonderful characters and not give up has paid off. I realized some time late last year that I'm madly in LOVE Shapeshifter's Heart. And I know if you loved my first two books, you'll love this one too. Certainly if you love Tristan and Forrest!
All that time invested into this book allowed the story to evolve into something truly magical. The Shapeshifter's Heart has three perspectives, an edgy layered storyline, and deep, complex characters. It also has all the heat that my readers expect from The Dark Woods Series.
More details, a teaser, and even a few juicy excerpts from Shapeshifter to follow soon. And on its heels, Book 4, Visions of Heaven, already in the works...
