The Voided ManGreetings, everyone. I'm Anthony Dean, a 51 year old rookie novelist.
I am a longtime author of textbooks, and for many years, I have aspired to write novels, but I did not actually finish anything until recently.
My youngest child went off to college last fall, and I found myself with an abundance of time on my hands. I got a good idea for a story, started writing, and completed The Voided Man earlier this spring. I published it on KDP at the end of May.
I'm delighted that I have finished and completed a novel, but I want more than a story that is read by friends and family. I have come to care about Prisoner Number One. He is a good and decent man who meets impossible circumstances with bravery and dignity and hope. I'd like for his story to circulate widely, and I think readers will enjoy it.
I am a baseball nerd, and to put my current position as a novelist in baseball terms: I am in the minors. And not AAA "one call from the show" minors, oh no. I am in single-A ball playing in front of small crowds, and I am not a starter. I am the backup third baseman.
But that's OK. I paid my dues in my day job, and I don't mind paying my dues in this venture.
One note: I have never blogged before. In point of fact, I have never been on social media of any kind. It just hasn't been part of my world. If I make any errors in presentation, it's just because I don't know anything.
And so, a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step and all that. Here I go.
