Questions
Genres: The various genres you write in, such as dark fantasy, speculative fiction, suspense, magical mysteries, and paranormal romance.
I started out with basic genres. Fantasy, romantic suspense, and paranormal dystopian. I didn’t know what I wanted to write, but after a couple years of writing it seems I found my niches.
I write paranormal romance, dark fantasy, speculative fiction, gothic fiction, suspense, magical mysteries, post apocalyptic fiction, and romance.
Favorite Books: Books and authors that have influenced your writing.
There are a few authors that have influenced me and my career. Veronica Roth, JK Rowling, Patricia Cornwell, Terry Brooks, and Nicholas Sparks.
Writing Routine: Your daily writing routine and any rituals you follow.
I drag myself out of bed, prepare myself for the day, then take Leo out for his morning stroll. I come home clean the house, make coffee, feed the fur babies and tend to social media.
I have a cup of coffee, then make breakfast. I wake my son and get his day going. Once we get everyone set up and happy, I write.
Throughout the day, I take plenty of breaks, listen to music and watch television. I walk Leo and while I’m writing he lays by my side. My writing companion. How long I write depends on my day and what needs to be done.
Hobbies: What you enjoy doing when you’re not writing.
Digital art, reading, art displays, walking Leo, movies, music, old car shows, corn roasts, cooking and baking, gardening, NASCAR and hockey.
First Book: The first book you ever wrote and what it was about.
The first book I wrote that isn’t published was about aliens. One’s that protect the earth, not the ones who attack it though they are part of the story too.
As for the first one I wrote, that is published. That would be ‘Tears of a Cowgirl’.
This is what it’s about:
Explore “Tears of a Cowgirl,” a gripping romantic suspense delving into the dangers of abuse. Katie, determined to protect her son and escape her abusive husband Chris, seeks refuge in Crash Falls, her hometown. There, supported by steadfast friend Charlie, she faces relentless pursuit and fear.
Crash Falls offers Katie more than memories—it’s a chance to rebuild with newfound friends and faith. Amidst her journey, a mysterious stranger leases the old Coney house, drawing her closer as danger escalates.
“Tears of a Cowgirl” is an emotional rollercoaster with heart-pounding twists. Fans of “Safe Haven” and “Sleeping with the Enemy” will find its raw intensity captivating. Triggering themes include abuse and stalking, highlighting human resilience in adversity.
Favorite Character: Your favorite character from your own books and why.
That would be Genavine. She and I have a lot in common. She is my inner darkness, my courage, my light and my warrior all combined.
The world she is forced to battle is fictional, but the ideas behind it are all the stressors I faced in life. It’s probably why she’s so easy to write about.
Inspiration: Where you find inspiration for your stories.
I get inspiration from all sorts of places. People, situations, nature, but mostly ideas just come to me. I’m a fountain of pure imaginations, from my waking breath to each dream I have throughout the night.
