As I have a great regard for Mahatma Gandhi, I never wanted to read about his assassin.

But finally I am reading this book.

Written simply and clearly, it reveals the extent of Savarkar’s influence, along with aspects of Godse’s thoughts and beliefs.

It also leads one to reflect on how people can be influenced and conditioned by their background and environment. Is it possible to break away from all that? Is there ever freedom of thought? What is the state of mind when one is free of all beliefs?
