Update August 2025
So we are re-packaging again -because we have to. How often do people even read the 'Terms and Conditions' updates that all of these large platforms put out 'from time to time...'? If you do, you would probably be horrified, as I am -from time to time. One of the big changes that could happen, for example, is that a large platform could shuffle things around without you noticing -for example, location and/or royalty.
If you don't constantly monitor your pricing and your releases carefully what may happen is that your royalty percentage may drop from 70% to 35%, or from 70% to 60% or perhaps VAT and Witholding Tax, or even 'download' charges would become your problem, and these could eat away at your costing. You wouldn't even notice if you weren't constantly downloading the T&C's every time somebody updated them and responding to them. But you should read them - you really should. Especially if you are an author and haven't changed your pricing in ten years -you really should read the T&C's!
What have I been writing this last year? Lots of new short stories... I haven't been busy in that form factor for many years, so the ideas have been backing up in the notebook and now they have to come out. Omnibus Editions... All the compiled works in a single [ePUB] edition because books don't print the 1500 pages of the Sol Senate Cycle - Future History on paper, never mind the cost of the printing! This opens up a channels for Future History and Diaspora that had not been evident before.
'Xylana Planes' has been started and is in outline phase right now, and should be on-schedule for 2026, and another, last, Sol Senate Cycle - Diaspora has suggested itself with some merit while the Omnibus has been compiled and re-vamped. Essays and creative non-fiction work has been in demand lately, and proper Collections (not themed ones like the 'Smithereens') have been discussed for awhile, but most likely launched with 'Sandglass: The Collection' probably at the same time as this blog, more or less.
That should be enough to keep the fires burning.
Keep Writing!
