I just found out that Joyce Carol Thomas, the author of Journey, which I just finished reading thanks to rachelmanija 's review, is no longer with us! This is too bad because I wanted to write her a note telling her how much I loved her use of language and that she includes so many beings and perspectives beyond the human, and one very sweet interaction between the protagonist and a boy who likes her.
