by Peter Millar (16.6.12):
Max Kinnings's Baptism is another bold attempt to play on current neuroses, especially in London's security-obsessed summer. A Tube train is taken over by a religious nutter and its passengers held hostage underground between Leicester Square and Tottenham Court Road. When blind hostage negotiator Ed Mallory takes charge he discovers that the man is a former British special forces fighter who thinks that he is the reincarnation of Jesus Christ and has no demands beyond martyrdom for himself and his captives as he floods the tunnel with water from an underground river.
Reassuringly, however, the security boys have been waiting for this and have it all in hand. Or have they? A tense blockbuster with worryingly credible characters.
