Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. Luke 10:19 NLT
Faith to Thrive
There is a great difference between self-preservation and overcoming. It’s the difference between the wilderness and the Promised Land. A survivor is someone who suffers a terrible attack and lives to tell about it.

In the Kingdom of God, that’s not good enough. An overcomer is someone who suffers a terrible attack, then rises up and defeats his attacker. Survivors are victims. Overcomers are victorious. Survivors have wounds. Overcomers have scars, like Jesus.

Survivors are peacekeepers – think United Nations Peacekeeping Forces – basically useless. Overcomers are peace makers – think the six-chambered pistol Samuel Colt forged that was used to bring justice and order to a lawless land.

You see, survivors go through the fire, then live life in constant reference to how they were burned. Overcomers go through the fire, and don’t even have the smell of smoke on their clothes – think Meshach, Shadrach, and Abednego walking with the Angel of God in the fiery furnace.

Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God!” – Daniel 3:28

Were they concerned about their own survival? If they were, they would have bowed down to the golden statue of Nebuchadnezzar. Instead, they refused to worship a false god. They honored the one true God by showing their evil king who the real boss was.

Yes, there is a big difference between survivors and overcomers. However, the biggest difference is in reward. In the Kingdom of God, survivors don’t inherit the promises. Overcomers do.

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. This is what the Bible has to say on the subject: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. – Romans 8:6

The Cherokee nation knew it, too. Check out this spot-on tribal tale:

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life. He told the boy, “A terrible fight is going on inside me. It is a fight between two wolves. One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and self-doubt."

The old man continued: “The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” He then told the boy, “This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute, then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The wise old chief replied, “The one you feed.”

What wolf have you been feeding? Just know the wolf of evil thoughts will eventually devour you, and likely others as well. Thoughts become actions, and there is always collateral damage.

That’s not you! You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">Faith to Thrive
Grounded in FaithDeclare!Jesus went to the cross and paid the price for all sin so I could live free and victorious. I was not saved to merely survive – I was saved to overcome everything and thrive. My life is abundantly filled with good things because He loves me.
