I recently got a reader request for another addition to my collection of free printable prayer guides. She wondered if I could create a couple of prayers siblings could use to pray for brothers and sisters.

I thought that was a great idea. The sisters prayer is still in the works, but I have the brothers prayer ready to share today. I hope it will be a blessing in your family and encourage you and your children to pray for brothers, regardless how old they are. None of us ever outgrow our need for faithful prayers being sent up by loved ones on our behalf!

A Prayer for My Brother

LORD, I lift my brother up to You in prayer, asking You to bless his . . .

Brain

Teach him to take every thought captive, O God, to the obedience of Christ. Protect him against Satan’s lies. Help him focus his thoughts on things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy.

Relationships

LORD, draw my brother close to Yourself. Strengthen his relationship with his family. Help him choose wise friends & advisers instead of walking in the counsel of the ungodly or seeking the company of sinners & scoffers.

Occupation

Lead my brother in a career path that honors You, God. May he do excellent work without grumbling or complaining, whether his efforts are ever acknowledged by supervisors or not. Help him work heartily in service to You.

Temperance

LORD, build in my brother the gift of self-control. Help him be disciplined and temperate, not ruled by anger or any other worldly passion. Teach him to crucify the flesh and lay aside every besetting sin and encumbrance.

Heart

Help my brother guard his heart, God. May it be wholly devoted to You & filled with good treasure. May the meditations of his heart be pleasing to you, & may he love You with all his heart, soul, mind, & strength.

Endurance

LORD, help my brother run with endurance the race You’ve set before him. Teach him to be still & wait patiently before You. Give him joy in the midst of trials since he knows You use such hardships to increase his endurance.

Reputation

Help my brother recognize the fact a good name is better than gold. May he do nothing to sear his conscience, corrupt his character, or damage his reputation. Let his light so shine that others will see his good works & give all glory to You.
