Gratitude and Learning

Lifelong learning

As we approach Thanksgiving here in the United States, I want to pause with gratitude for you. I’ve been blessed to have readers for many years—through my blog, social media, and books. Some of you support my work financially through Circle of Hope (contact me for more info!), by buying books, or by hiring me as a virtual assistant. Others simply read and engage. However you connect, please know I’m deeply grateful that you welcome my voice into your life in some small way. Thank you.

Honorable Living

How do you handle group interactions with respect and awareness?
Have you ever been chatting with someone when a third person walks up, joins in, and suddenly the person you were speaking with drifts away with them? It’s an awkward moment—and a great reminder to be mindful when we’re in conversations. Let’s be extra observant not to interrupt others unintentionally, and also to stay present with the person in front of us.

Ongoing Learning

“Learn something new every day” is a familiar saying—but is it actually realistic?
Honestly, yes. I think we learn far more often than we realize. It might be as simple as meeting someone new, learning their name, trying a new recipe, or taking a different route home. Learning doesn’t have to be complicated. Some projects and pursuits certainly are, but many small discoveries shape us along the way. It’s really about staying open to new possibilities, approaches, and relationships as we walk our individual paths.

What did you learn today? I’d love to hear!

Power Skills

Being teachable is a powerful trait. But like any strength, it can get off-balance. A willingness to learn is a gift—but if you’re too open to correction, it can unintentionally invite certain people to overstep. Some personalities—especially those who naturally take charge—may begin offering direction freely while not being open to receiving it in return.

So here’s your gentle reminder: you can be teachable and still push back appropriately. Staying humble doesn’t mean being a doormat.

Enthusiastic Exploration

Keith and I recently enjoyed a mountain drive that included part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The foliage had passed, but a dusting of snow remained—such a treat for me since snow is rare here and never sticks around long. Being in the mountains (or any natural setting) reminds me that the world is bigger than whatever fills my mind on a given day. And as much as I love Greenville, it’s refreshing to step outside the county from time to time.

To You, From Me

If you live in Greenville County, here’s a list of local blessing boxes—places where you can donate items or, if you need support, pick up a few supplies. I maintain this list as a service to our community, and you’re welcome to share it.

Til next time, stay thankful!
Beth
