I never intended to write a Christmas book, let alone 5! Then my mother shared her idea for a Christmas story. I said she should write it. She insisted that I write it. She knew I liked to write though I hadn't published anything yet. I resisted. she insisted. She wouldn't let up. I started imagining how I'd write it.

Okay, fine. I began writing. It came quickly, taking only 3 months. It was my second published book and readers liked it. Okay, I'll write a sequel. Okay, maybe one more - a trilogy. Okay, I've thought of another story and readers want more of the Claus family. But how did it all begin? Okay, a free prequel story that became a book.

The sad thing is that my mother got Alzheimer's and never got to fully enjoy it. I'd show her the first book with my name on the cover and tell her how I'd named Mrs. Claus after her - Clara. It would delight her every time. Sadly, she passed away. I wish she could've read these books based on her idea. It was her gift to me.
