'Tis the time of year

Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, whatever you celebrate. We have family members of different faiths and beliefs. For me, the holidays are about gratitude, love, and generosity. Most of us don't need more stuff. But it's nice spending time together and putting smiles on each other's faces.

I was snowed in one Christmas by myself. One of the few I didn't get to spend with my kids and grandkids, so I can appreciate just being together.

When my kids were little and I was a single mother, the holidays always stressed me out. The traffic and crowds and frenzy. And I didn't have the time or money to make their Christmas as special as I wanted. I know what it's like to live without, but I wanted more for them. Struggling makes you appreciate what you have and I do.

I hope your holidays are happy and safe and filled with family and friends!
