Two Weeks Until Launch

Hello!

I’m writing this from overseas, where part of The Keeper of the Veil takes place, and I still can’t quite believe that in exactly two weeks, January 13th, this book will be out in the world.

For those who don’t know me yet, I’m Jack Calder, a debut urban fantasy author who spent over 25 years in in corporate strategy and M&A before deciding to channel my midlife energy into writing.

The Keeper of the Veil follows James Crable, an immortal warrior who’s been protecting the Veil between worlds for nearly a thousand years. These days, he does it from suburban Ohio, which turns out to be a lot more complicated than medieval England ever was.

To My ARC Readers
I need to start by thanking the incredible readers who’ve already spent time with this book. Over a hundred of you requested advance copies, and watching your reviews come in has been one of the most surreal and humbling experiences of my life. Seeing a 4.62 rating as I write with phrases like “couldn’t put it down” and “finished it in one sitting” makes all those revision sessions worth it. You’ve given this debut author the gift of knowing the story works, and I’m deeply grateful.

What’s Happening on Launch Day
I’ll be doing a TikTok Live on January 13th to celebrate the launch. Come hang out, ask questions about the book, or just watch me try to contain my excitement while traveling. The link will be on my TikTok (@jack.calder.autho) and I’ll post reminders here.

The book launches simultaneously in ebook, paperback, and audiobook (narrated by the fantastic Glenn Boychuck), and it’s available in Kindle Unlimited from day one.

If You’re Just Discovering This Book
The Keeper of the Veil is the first book in The Veil Saga, and it’s built for readers who love urban fantasy with historical depth, immortal characters who’ve actually lived through history, and modern settings where supernatural threats hide in plain sight. If you’ve been looking for your next series to binge, I’ve got Book 2 coming in March and Book 3 later this year. You can add it to your Want to Read shelf now, and if you’re curious about what readers are saying, many early reviews are already up on the book’s page.

Two Weeks
I’m not going to lie, I’m nervous and excited in equal measure. Finding readers who connect with James’s story has been worth every revision, every late night, every moment of doubt.

Thanks for being part of this journey. See you on January 13th.
