January's Writing Progress
I was a bit optimistic about when I might be able to release the audio version of The Last Dragonrider. I finished recording it after 13 days (mostly 13 late nights, really), which is the fastest I've done something of that length. Not living next to a railway station helps. Editing it is taking longer, though. I'm halfway through chapter 22, which means I've done about 30% of it.
I think I'll have a lot more pickups than in the last novel-length audiobook. These are places where I have to re-record a sentence, because I made a mistake that I didn't notice when I was recording. Mostly they're caused by my stomach growling or my mouth clicking. ("L" and "TH" sounds are a particular problem.) Sometimes I mispronounce a word or say the wrong word. A couple of the more amusing mistakes there - I said a character "laughed mercilessly" when I should've said "mirthlessly", and then in the same chapter, "in their mist" instead of "in their midst."
I found time to do a bit of new writing - one short story of about 1500 words, and about 1000 words added to another story that I started last year while waiting for beta readers to come back to me.
