Iran
From my 2009 book "The Gospel Prophecy."
From close examination of the book of Daniel, we see that history has not fulfilled the prophetic events portrayed. The present situation in Iran sets the stage for the opening act. If it is time for the fulfilling of these prophecies, we should expect the following. 1. The northwestern part of Iran will break away and join northern Iraq and other Kurdish areas to become an independent nation, under the rule of its own shah or king. This would re-establish the ancient country of Media.
2. Reza Pahlavi would gain control over the rest of Iran.
3. Media and Iran (Persia) would then form an alliance and push into the following countries, according to Daniel 8:4, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the former Soviet Union. It was improbable that Iran could defeat the mighty power of the Soviet Union, but today the situation has changed.
