Faceless Authory

Apologies for the hiatus last week, family stayed.

Anyway…

This subject has been a quandary for me since I decided to publish Grey Feather. And that subject is putting oneself out there. Firstly, let me divulge that my self-imposed nickname is ‘paranoid from the West Midlands’, which probably explains it all.

So, head shot? As yet I have not been brave enough. I don’t want my whole face on the internet. I have never put a photo of myself on social media, I worry that someone will take my face and stick it on something it shouldn’t be stuck on. At present I still use my cartoon avatar on social media and bookish media, but I am toying with a partial face shot photo. If I’m brave enough.

The quandary also extends to using a name. My surname is very unusual. Some might think of that as a bonus, but the PftWM in me values privacy, and wants a distinction between my authory life and my private life.

I worry that keeping these guards up will lead people online to think I’m not genuine, but I try to be generous on social media in terms of communicating with others, which hopefully comes across as authentic. Did I also mention I’m an over thinker!

In finishing, I’ll post the partial head shot if and when it’s created, but until then, I love my cartoon avi where the bunny ears on my slippers reach my knees.

Until next week 👋
