I'm currently writing a series of short stories about a fictional rock band, Cats in Shark Suits, that I'm publishing on Substack. Here's a link to the most recent story:

Cats in Shark Suits are a quirky, fun little rock band from Port City, Texas, who are trying to find their way in the music world. They're going from playing local gigs in dive bars to playing regional gigs and soon, they'll go on their first mini tour with a punk rock band from Austin. They play their own music, songs they've written and arranged together. Most of the stories are written from the perspective of Zoey Davis, lead guitarist, for whom this is her first experience playing in a band. Steve, Kevin and Fani have been around the block with other bands a few times and have a good grasp on how to survive the rock and roll road.

Because Cats in Shark Suits exists in the same city as Jett Landry, in the same timeline, their paths have and will continue to cross. In my upcoming novel, Not Your Final Girl, A Jett Landry Thriller, Cats in Sharks Suits will make an appearance.

The twist is, even though Cats in Shark Suits are a fictional band, they have real music. They exist on SoundCloud under their name. No generative AI is involved with this project. All songs were written, recorded, mixed and mastered by myself, Stephan Oak (I'm a musician, too) and all stories are written by me.
