Sea Magic introduced readers to Penbrook, Connecticut, Madeline’s antique shop, and her awakening as a psychic medium. With those foundations in place, Dark River Magic moves deeper into the mysteries hidden beneath the surface, which is why it marks a deliberate shift from the first book.
While Dark River Magic remains grounded in women’s paranormal fiction, it also reads more like a supernatural mystery. The pacing, stakes, and atmosphere are intentionally darker and more suspense-driven.
From now on, each novel in the series will have a similar vibe, centering on an object that mysteriously arrives in Madeline’s antique shop.
