D. E. A. R. Time
It was a lovely, cool 68F this morning, the coolest morning we’ve had here in forever. It was a good morning to get out and run some errands. First on my list was the library. I know, I know, I have a bookcase full of TBRs right here at home. But there are a few books on my list that I’ve wanted to read and have not come across at the book sales or thrift stores. Today, I was mostly hoping to borrow The Things We Never Say, the latest by one of my favorite authors, Elizabeth Strout, but it looks like I will have to get in line to get my hands on that one. I put a hold on it so I will have it to look forward to, hopefully soon.
I was able to bring home The Book of Lost Friends. a slightly older title by Lisa Wingate, another author I really enjoy. Has anybody read it?
I finished my errands and came home – just in the nick of time. I pulled down my street to see a utility truck parked smack in front of my driveway. The city is doing something with the sewer today. They were nice enough to move the truck so I could get in but the worker let me know they will be working out there for a good little while today and once they start, they will not be able to move the truck again! So it looks like I am staying in, and what better way to spend that time than with a new book
When I was working at the elementary school level, we incorporated something called D.E.A.R. time into every day– Drop Everything And Read. Sounds like a perfect plan to me
