Taking the Steps

If you do the work, you get the results. In July, I took 732,932 small steps. Each of them carried me a little forward. Together, they got me all the way from Munich in Germany over the Alps to Venice in Italy.

All of your projects and goals are similar. Anything non-trivial will take sustained effort over a long time.

Hiking is easier in one way: Progress is visible and linear. In your projects, you might not be able to see the progress as clearly. To help you keep momentum, log the time you spend. Every week, review your project. Did you spend time on it? Did you move forward? You’ll find that you might not be able to see progress every day, but over weeks and months you can. If you put in the time.
