Back to School
Quick update:
This huge biannual sale is back for three days only with nearly 300 SFF/H books under $3. Shop Aug. 29-31! This human-curated fantasy collection on Kobo Plus is a great way to find new-to-you SFF reads(/listens) if youre a subscriber (and if youre not, you should check it outits kinda like KU except better for readers and publishers!) My last summer market is a full weekend of fun at the Comox Valley Exhibition. Join me this Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29-30 for community storytelling, local books, and (new!) chapbooks in support of BC Wildfire Relief and Housing Insecurity.

The community storytelling board has been a huge success (winner so far: Arts on the Avenue in Ladysmith, where I had to erase the board three times to fit everyones ideas in!) and its been such a pleasure meeting readers, writers, creatives, community members, and travellers over the past couple of months. Its always fun to hear when youve seen a book in local (or international!) schools, met one of the authors at a school visit, or even met one of my authors friends at another market. I particularly loved seeing stock tick down at the local bookstores, as we got word out about local writers and yall went out to shop local. Now more than ever, investing in our communities makes such a difference! Thank you!
Ill be slowing down a smidge on markets for the fall, but stay tuned for THE COOLEST (spookiest?) Halloween event at the Parksville Museum on the weekend of October 16-18!
My fall slate is filling up quickly (now that the back-to-school hustle is hitting!), so if youre looking for one-off event programming, or continuing workshops or mentorship, please do reach out as soon as you are able! You can find more information and inspiration on my Bookings page; current and upcoming examples include festival speaking, creative workshops, and even some one-to-one mentorships with young writers.Speaking of, Ive just sent out my reading list for a Magic House Caretaker-themed anthology workshop inspired by Diana Wynne Jones The House of Many Ways for my Creative Writing for Children fall term and its going to be so fun!
In other news, I did get through another draft of SONGSTRESS WIP this summer. Id like one more clean up the apostrophes pass before getting more eyes on itand have been wildly procrastinating with every other art and crafting form known to man, lol. Pics on social!
