September: Curiosity
My word for September: Curiosity. This is to remind me not to get bogged down in details, and to approach my work and my days with an open mind and sense of exploration. It’s the end of summer, autumn will be here in mere moments, and I want to enjoy the time.
A quick update this month, since I’m still on the road.
For all my wailing and gnashing of teeth about not being able to finish any projects over the summer, I sold a couple of short stories last week. Nice to get some validation! It never gets old.
A reminder: StoryBundle is offering the Wizards, Warlocks and Soothsayers Bundle. Sixteen magical fantasy novels! And proceeds go to support SFWA. My own book, The Cormac and Amelia Case Files, is included. If you’re one of those who’s always looking for your next read, these bundles are a great deal!
For the Denver locals: on September 9th at 6 pm, I’ll be at the Tattered Cover on Colfax with author Emily Jane, chatting about her new novel, Mr. Yay. (I’m reading it now, it’s a trip! There are dogs and roadtrips and music.) You’ll need to get tickets ahead of time, but I believe the price includes a copy of the novel. Check out the site for options.
I just watched a Shark Week thing that informed me there are mako sharks around Catalina Island, which is where I’m scheduled to be, like, now. OMG y’all I wanna see a mako shark.
I’ll let you know what I actually see, next week.
Have a good month!
