A lot of books seem to be set in a universe where money is never an issue for the main characters.

AMagillAlexis, the main character in Forbidden Fruit, has money trouble. So does Courtney, the main character in my soon to be released novel, By the Stars.
The money issues aren’t the crux of their troubles, but they do help complicate things.
I know books are supposed to be all about escape/entertainment/indulging in fantasy. But reading about people who never worry about how much things cost while they jet off to their favorite private tropical vacation spot tends to annoy me. Especially when they’ve spent most of the novel unemployed or with no discernible means of support.

tiarescottDoes that sort of thing bother you? Or am I just overly picky? Do you prefer characters with real life problems or would you rather get a glimpse of the über-rich life?
