My 5 Best Liked Reviews I Wrote on Goodreads

Goodreads allows its readers to "like" other readers' reviews. It's pretty cool when you see another reader feels as passionately about a book as you've felt about it. Sometimes the other reader will post comments. Since reading is a solitary business, I appreciate knowing that others share in my book tastes and preferences.

Anyway, I thought it'd be interesting to list my five most popular book reviews. The list is based on the most "likes" or votes of each review I write and post. I'll also add that my reviews are more like casual comments and thoughts I might have.

#1. The Ghosts of Belfast by Stuart Neville.

Number 1 doesn't surprise me. It's a well-conceived novel with the right mix of ingredients to make it outstanding.

2. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.

Number 2 was a runaway international bestseller, so that might account for its votes. I just enjoyed it even though I rarely read such long novels.

3. A Bullet for Cinderella by John D. MacDonald.

Number 3 is a surprise to me since JDM died in 1986. This title is not a Travis McGee, JDM's popular series character, but an early stand alone crime pulp.

4. The Affair by Lee Child.

Number 4 is from a bestselling and vastly popular author. Jack Reacher, the series' hero, is becoming a household word.

5. Snow Angels by James Thompson.

Number 5 is well-deserved and leaves me the happiest. James Thompson is a transplanted American writing Finnish crime fiction. I hope his series continues to attract a reading audience.
