On writing Bound, cont.

I realized as I was muddling through a chapter this weekend, that I'm halfway through this manuscript, which is supposed to be centered around Cayne, and he really hasn't had the focus on him at all. I mean AT ALL. I've written scene after scene, and he remains a shadowy figure in the periphery as my other characters jostle for the limelight. It got me wondering: is this because Cayne is such a mystery, even to me? Or is he waiting for his time to shine? I prefer the latter theory. I want him to come fully into his own in this story, and by doing so, push Marija into changing some of her preconceptions of the world. As for Matt, well, he's still being Matt. I've yet to see if he's ready to grow up at all yet. But then, he IS the youngest, his life's taken a few hits, and he probably figures he deserves to have a little fun. If he thinks about such things at all, anyway! (Yes, to me, these characters are real, lol).
