A Little Piece of Myself

Sitting here watching the snow fall outside while I work on the edit for my latest novel, When You’re Young, I got to thinking about something. Mainly I got to thinking about it because of a text I received from a friend of mine this morning. She had just started reading one of my books and sent me a message telling me she liked the dogs in it. The dogs in the book are the dogs I currently have. And that some of the scenery in the book reminded her of my back yard. Some of the scenery in the book is from my own back yard.

I got to thinking about how even though I write fiction, there are little pieces of truth, little pieces of me, scattered throughout every book I write. And sometimes there are little pieces of things I wish I could be, do, see or have… sigh…

I know I’m not different from any other writer in that respect. I’m sure they all scatter little pieces of themselves all over the place in their own writing. They’re like little puzzle pieces that if you could put them together would show you who they really, truly are at heart.

Well, then I guess it’s a good thing for me that for the most part, only those closest to me will ever catch those little pieces:)

Happy reading, my friends!
