Grrrrr!

I just wrote an extensive blog about why I am focusing more on writing my next book than promoting the existing one...then Goodreads told me it was over-capacity and the whole thing was swallowed up in the ether! Blast!

Anyway, my whole thrust was that I have been spending far too much of my very limited spare time in promoting my current novel and this has left very little for new work. I have two new books on the go; one a sci-fi rewrite and the other a thriller sequel.

Bottom line...I love the writing process and want the many stories whizzing around inside my head to be put down on paper (or e-book). I know I need to promote my work, and support other indie writers (usually on Twitter) BUT the books won't write themselves.

None of this will be earth-shattering to anyone, I'm sure, but I just wanted to share! Cheers.

Andy

B.A. Spicer Glad we've connected at last on Goodreads.

Your post rings some awfully familiar bells. I'm rubbish at promoting (but getting better with help) and then don't have a big enough chunk of time to really get back to writing. Fortunately, I have children who get up at 6.00 and catch the school bus at 7.00. My husband starts work at 10.00 so I have the lounge to myself for around three hours. Bliss.

Good thing is, we all understand. And, if you want to just concentrate on being creative, we'll still be here when you come back.

Have a great week. And get those books written!

Zack Kullis Andy, I feel your pain. I have one-book pubished, the sequel is currently with the editor, and I'm writing the last of the trilogy.

On top of that, I have three different stories floating around in my head, scratching at my skull as they beg to be written.

My plan is to concentrate on writing for right now. Like you, it is what I love. I try to promote as much as I can through social media, but I won't really get serious about promoting until I have three or four books under my belt.

There is not enough time to do it all, so in the end, I will do what I enjoy and write. Just my two cents. But it sounds like we are in similar situations.

Best of luck Andy!

Zack...
