What is the working title of your book…

Working Title is Bridges Buried in Darkness

Where did the idea come from for the book?

Looking to expand the genre and build on the basis of my internal science theories, I thought of the Alternative Lifestyle community and its spiritual roots in Yoruba as well as other Cultures representing the gate-keepers of other realms. Also, I needed a beginning chapter to tie my previous Novels (Renpet and N Eternity Reclaimed) to. In fact, this new project was exactly what I needed to bring forth the entire concept of The Renpet Phenomenon to light.

What genre does your book fall under?

Bridges Buried in Darkness would rise within the Afro-Futuristic Genre as a Paranormal, Sci-Fi Drama. Afro-Futurism is a genre on the rise that represents the Nubian (Afrikan) experience within the world of science and nature…the world of internal science.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

My main character, whom I cannot name at this moment to protect his identity, would be perfectly played by Yassin Bey (Most Def) . I just see his natural and honest spirit being able to bring forth the main character’s essence to the big screen. Other actors would more than likely be Sana Latham , Michelle Rodriguez (Resident Evil), Erykah Badu, Jannelle Monae, Ghost Face Killah , MF Doom and Jaye Davidson (Crying Game). Of course, screenplay would have to be different from the actual Novel if I want to really get some of the actors to play the roles without being offensive to them.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Novus City, home to mass gentrification and Directive Living’s harvesting of a new energy supply…spiritual emissions.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

On the fence about that, thinking I may still go the route of representing myself with the help of my Afro-Futuristic Sistren and Brethren.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

About 5 months. Since it will be a short Novella series, looking at releasing the first book in the series in late March.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Comparison is such a touchy word with me. Um.

Who or What inspired you to write this book? 

A few things inspired this book:

Maafa 21 DVD which tells of possible dealings of a certain organization that has a secret agenda of mass sterilization of the urban populaces globally.

Janelle Monae’s ArchAndroid Album which is like a Audio Afro-Futuristic Novel.

Gantz the japanese live-action and anime about an on-going other-worldly immigration problem on Earth and a Black Ball in a room that is the root of it all.

The actual concern of gentrification taking place in NYC

And, at the risk of being comical, all the vegetarian and vegan junk-food out there that is produced as a product and not so much as a source of nutrition.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

I am working on a launching a fundraiser for this project: Who is Peter Sekham?
