Excerpt from my book....

“Providence” is God providing for you the things and people in your life that you need in any given season. You might not know it at the time, and often times, it is after some event that you realize He had protected and provided for you all along. Th is scripture from Exodus
most vividly gives me a picture of not just God’s providence, but God’s
protection as well [emphasis mine].

Exodus 33:18-23 NIV:
“18 Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” 19 And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and I will be gracious
to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.” [Providence] 20 But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!” 21 Th en the LORD
said, “Behold, there is a place by Me, and you shall stand there on the rock ; 22 and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by [protection]. 23 “Th en I will take My hand away and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.”

I first heard this scripture referenced in bible study by my friend Lena. It makes me weepy when I read it now. Th rough this verse, I see the time leading up to and the day of Jonce’s death. For a year and a half preceding his death, it was as if God had put me in a place to
provide some protection of what was to come. He placed me in the “cleft of the rock” known as my circle of friends. Once the storm of Jonce’s death was upon me, He covered me with his hand to protect
me. I still hurt, mourned, and grieved (and still do) the loss of my husband, but His hand was over me the entire time (verse 22).

He protected me from tools the enemy may have used against me. He
protected me from an onslaught of depression, anxiety, ill will towards
the driver of the truck, and hateful spirit of heart (verse 22). After the
storm had settled, I realized he was in front of me, walking forward,His back to me, his hand extended behind him beckoning me to grab a hold of Him (verse 23).
