Thoughts On 'Bring Forth The Night'

I loved writing this manuscript. I fell in love with the characters I was creating and began to think of them as real-life individuals outside of the main story. I spent many nights after a full time job coming home and seeking inspiration. Some nights it easily fell into place; other times I became impatient. It was rewarding in the end to see my creation take a life of its own.

The story is written from three perspectives: in the form of journal entries made by the main character, Moz Harlow; in the thoughts and actions of Moz Harlow's granddaughter (who has found some of her keepsakes in the attic) and from a third-person perspective for insight into the lives of the characters surrounding our female protagonist.

My love of rock n roll allowed me to set the era in which our story takes place--1995--when grunge music, ripped jeans, tattoos and smoke-filled venues were prevelant. It allowed me to remember my own days of getting in trouble, experimenting with freedom of expression (which I still adhere to) and much more.
