Last week we got a new $300 book in our library, "Intelligent Textiles and Clothing for Ballistic and NBC Protect: Technology at the Cutting Edge." It's part of NATO's Science for Peace and Security Series.

Curious, I thumbed through it and got hooked on reading about nanotechnology and Smart Textiles. This is like space-age/Meet the Jetsons/Blade Runner/Matrix stuff... well you get the idea!

All I could think about was, man, I really want to use this for research in a story. Too bad I'm not writing anything right now that could use this... yet. Someday, if I come out with something where the main character puts on a suit of wearable optical chemical sensors, you'll know why! Post-apocalyptic dystopian fiction anyone?
