If you like to write, here is some advice: don't be afraid of research. All you are doing is asking a question and finding the answer. Or trying to solve a problem.
Better yet, think of it this way. When you write something that you've researched, you are responding to your sources. You are having a conversation with them, as well as with your audience. That's all it is, a conversation back to the world.
As time-consuming as it is, research is what allows me to ink in my sketch, to paint color into my black-and-white world. My favorite part of writing is dialogue, but without doing the nitty-gritty hard work of research, my characters will have no context, no place to live and grow.
