Forever...More!

I don't read as many Magazine's as I used to growing up, books will always be my first love but doesn't mean magazine's don't have an important role...

I felt quite sad today when I discovered MORE magazine will no longer be published. I recall many a time when I was supposed to be doing homework engrossed in the latest edition.

(With the risk of sounding old) It wasn't like it is now when I was a teenager. There wasn't an app for answering the sexual questions you had when you didn't want to ask a grown up. The internet was barely a twinkle in someone's eye....it was always slow to log onto and you couldn't use the phone if someone was using the internet, so in the mid 90's, it seemed more hassle than it was worth. So mags like SUGAR and MORE were staple reading for the 90's teenager.

My friends and I would turn straight away to the position of the fortnight and wonder what on earth a 'Reverse Cowgirl' was and more importantly, how bendy you'd have to be to get into that position. Next we'd do the quizzes to find out who was our 'ideal man' what your 'favourite position' was and 'how flirty are you?'. Then we'd read the 'erotic stories', which probably seem quite tame now in these days of BDSM, but at the time they were quite risque.

MORE was a ground breaking magazine, it was the first to really take sex by the scruff of it's neck and put it 'out there'. Along with Judy Blume's FOREVER, which was equally as important to breaking down sexual barriers for teenagers. (I will NEVER forget being introduced to Ralph for the first time!)

I will be purchasing the last copy of More this week, for the sake of nostalgia and I know what page I'll be turning to first....thanks for the memories MORE.
