Springing into Spring
Blimey, April has been a busy old month.
Not that I'm complaining you understand - it's been brilliant - but so much has happened, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed.
Firstly, I was absolutely delighted to be interviewed by the wonderful Sam Gould who writes for The Independent. In the interview, I speak about my inspiration for writing for Young Adults, how to engage reluctant readers, and some of the wider issues relating to the 'youf of today.'
Then I discovered that I'm going to be taking part in my first book signing event. It will hosted by Waterstones in Sheffield (Park Lane, Meadowhall) on Monday 27th May, 12.00-4.00pm. As well as being ultra exciting, I admit to also being a tad nervous about the event, and I would love to see as many friendly faces there as possible - so if you're in the area, please do pop in.
Just this week, my publishing partner, Wendy Storer, and I have launched Applecore Book's first competition. The prize is a stunning Kindle Fire, and it's in my living room right now. I confess, I will not enjoy parting with it; it's so new and shiny and stunning ... I want one! But I will also be delighted to know it's going to a good home. The competition is open to any young person aged 9-18, and no purchase is necessary. You can find out more by going to Applecore Books' website.
And finally, I have just published a new blog post on my website. It's one I've been thinking about carefully for quite a while, and it considers what content is, or isn't suitable for novels aimed at the Young Adult market. If anyone has the time, I'd really appreciate you taking a look and letting me know your thoughts.
So, a fantastic month for Applecore Books, and for Wendy and I. We continue to go from strength to strength!
