Speedreading
I have a book club meeting on Wednesday and I haven't finished the books! Yikes.
Yesterday I read one of the books. It's the fastest slow-read I have ever done. I grabbed main words out of descriptions, paid attention to dialogue, and skipped when the author repeated (which, luckily, this author did a lot). It worked. I have a million questions for the discussion.
I think that I had to choose as I read so I was thinking on two levels through the whole book: the reading level and the "what's the author doing here" level. It might have been a more critical read, in an odd way.
However, it's not fun when you can't savor the book. I plan to return to normal reading next book.
