Inspiration
I just met a little girl who was holding a copy of my book in her hands and said to me, "Wow, you're the author of this book?" She was so happy to meet me and so eager to share her own stories that she had made up in her head, that I sat there and listened to her stories for 10-15 minutes. I told her that I was her age when I first thought of some of the characters in my books but that I had never written them down until recently. I encouraged her to pursue her dream of writing if that is what she really wanted to do. I told her to write them down now and to get started! I could see the passion that she had for her stories even at such a young age. I hope that I was able to inspire her and encourage her to write those cute little stories down that she so vividly portrayed to me. Of note, her mother and grandmother read to her often when she was an infant and toddler, which serves as a living example that reading to your child just might light a fire inside of their creative minds!

This blog is written from the perspective of a Pediatrician, parent, and author of children's picture books. The purpose of this blog is to introduce or reenforce to parents the idea that reading to their children is of huge importance and not only promotes parent-child bonding but has been shown to promote academic success in a child's future! It is NEVER too early to start reading to your child and this blog will help parents find the most fitting, entertaining, and thought-stimulating children's books available.
