I've read "The Sandman," several years ago, and wasn't really enamored with it myself. Even by Romantic standards, I found the writing verbose, slow-paced and opaque, and I felt the plot was somewhat disjointed. (Of course, we all have different literary likes and dislikes --comparing them is half the fun of Goodreads!)
