Future Books
So, this week has quite possibly been the biggest so far for me as an author.
On Wednesday 14th August 2013 I appeared at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, as part of a 'Future Books' event, alongside fellow eBook author, Damien Love (debut novel: Like Clockwork).
We had a good crowd, approximately 50 to 60 folk, and there was a great atmosphere. Hosted by book festival veteran, Colm Linnane, the event ran smoothly, and was a very enjoyable experience.
Damien had the foresight to get print-on-demand editions of his eBook printed for sale at the EIBF, but I opted to not do this. Instead I took along posters, stickers and postcards to sign. These proved popular, as did a special promotional 'item' I had created especially for my Edinburgh book festival appearance: a novella called 'The Vengeance Path: The Lost Brother', a prequel story set 3 years before the events of The Vengeance Path itself, featuring one of that book's main characters, Nessan Yulano.
I got a bunch of postcards printed to advertise The Lost Brother novella, with a special barcode on the back that, once scanned by suitable scanner software on your smartphone (eg: Google Goggles), would take you to a 'secret' link on the Thistle In The Kiss website where you could get a FREE download of The Lost Brother - it goes on sale on amazon in September.
So that was Wednesday.
On the Thursday I appeared in the Derby Evening Telegraph: http://www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/Andrew-s-novel-award/story-19659516-detail/story.html#axzz2cSbs4gmr
...and later in the day was interviewed live for BBC Radio Derby. (I'm from Derby, I should mention)
Busy couple of days. Now it is back to the proper work of actually doing some writing, namely, book two in The Chronicles of Edenos, Children of War...
