Things I discovered this week...
I love the quote by Thomas Monson that says to "find joy in the journey". Life is meant to be enjoyed, to be lived to its fullest potential every single day. And for me, part of that is in learning and discovering and rediscovering again.
Here are a few things I discovered this week:
1. Mankind is inherently good. I was sitting on the train on the way home from school and a homeless man who either was wasted or had mental issues got on. He sat beside two pretty girls and immediately began talking to them with slurred words and going a mile a minute. Instead of ignoring him, these girls listened, smiled and even asked him if he was okay and knew where he was going. After reading and seeing a lot of news articles where people kill and rape and steal, it renewed my faith in humanity watching these girls.
2. Babies can pee a long way. I mean, my little guy is only about 2 feet long, and he can pee about 5 feet. It just shoots across the room while I am changing him (and it makes my toddler giggle when I get sprayed). Babies are incredible specimen.
3. Wind is powerful. Our tree out front cracked in half (split rght up the trunk) last night during a wind storm. Amazing the power from something that you can't see.
4. Girl talk is essential. I love talking to my husband. I have always enjoyed conversations with my brothers and dad. Chatting incoherently with my sons is also a pleasure. But there is nothing better than having good old girl talk with women I love. Everyone needs a girl friend... if you don't have one, go find one!
5. The phrase 'sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me' is a lie. Words have so much strength. I read three amazing, articulate and very positive new reviews on my novel Iced Romance as well as a new review for my soon-to-be-released novel In the Stars. Those words alone made me feel like I was floating. And then I read a negative (ish) one... and it hurt. Be careful what you say... words have more power than all the sticks and stones in the world.
What have you been thinking about lately? What new things have you discovered? :)
