Has a Novel Ever Changed You?

Have you read a novel that changed your outlook on life, caused you to enact a behavior, or stop one? Caused you to love someone more, hate someone less, made you change religions or political parties or stopped you from harming yourself?

If so, I want to know. What was the novel (no nonfiction, please), and how did it change you? If too personal, just name the novel if you'd like.

Look forward to hearing from everyone.

Polly Krize Read "In Cold Blood", really got me thinking about personal safety...not sure if it changed my outlook on life...made me think about randomness, I guess...

Chad Lorion I've not read that. Truman Capote, correct?

I love it when a novel, even if it doesn't change my outlook on life, makes me think about something. Rewarding when that happens.

Polly Krize Yes, it is by Capote, he researched it with Harper Lee...it is based on a true crime, but I think Capote put his own interpretation on it. A study of guilt and sensitivity...So a non-fiction fictionalized novel, is that a genre?

Chad Lorion Huh. Never knew he teamed up with Lee for that. As for your question, I'm still trying to sort out 'non-fiction fictionalized novel'...
