Indie Author Friday
It's been far too long since I've done a good indie author friday. I've been a wretched blogger and for that, I apologize. But I promise I'm trying to get my act together.
Expect to see lots of Sebastian Stan gifs
It might be a phase. it might not. In the meantime just enjoy it So to make that up to you I'm going to share my current favorite series by the amaze balls Tijan. No it's not Carter Reed, although I really enjoyed that one too. It's the Fallen Crest Series. I actually fell into this series on accident. I saw that a couple of New Adult authors had gotten together and put eight full length books into an Anthology for .99 on Amazon. Normally I eye these warily because as often as not they suck. But I saw that Ilsa Mills-Madden, the author of the Briarcrest Academy Series (Very Bad Things, Very Wicked Things) had included something and since I know she's talented and the real deal, I decided to give it a chance. it was well worth it and I would recommend you snatch it up but it was a limited time deal only. But the last book in the anthology was Fallen Crest High.
As of the date of this blog, there are three (and a sorta half) books in this series. Fallen Crest High, Fallen Crest Family, Fallen Crest Public, and an alternate version of Fallen Crest Family that she scrapped but later released because she loves her fans. I say at this time because later this summer both Mason, a novella and Fallen Fourth Down, the fourth full length novel in the series should be out. If there's a book deity that loves me that is.
The basic premise is that Samantha (aka Sam)'s whole world has just gone to seed. She comes home one day to find her mom tossing their stuff in boxes and telling her that she's basically been skeeving on her Dad with the rich James Kade, and now the two of them are off to live it up in the Kade Mansion. To make matters worse, her best friends are bitches, her boyfriend is just as skeevy as her Mom and there are two McHottie Kade brothers who are equal doses of Delicious and Dangerous. Sam's going to have to deal with losing her Dad, losing her friends, and for all intents and purposes her Mom all in one fell swoop. I have to hand it to the girl, she develops a serious running addiction (which bothered the hell out of me, but for those of you who aren't aware, exercise science and nutrition science are kind of my bag so when she's talking two hours of running when she's upset to numb her up my brain goes right to how are you not a frigging stick from losing all your backup fat storage and how are you avoiding blowing out your knees and bones with epic shin splints? But I digress). I frankly would have lost my shit at that point and gone Linda Blair on everyone. But Sam is in luck because in the end she gains a better family than the one she's lost. Mason and Logan, the dangerously sexy Kade brothers and their partner in crime Nate have taken her under their wing. The Subsequent books continue to follow this unorthodox family through the fallout for some of their choices and are just as good, if not better, than the first.
I freaking loved this series myself for a couple of reasons. First because it's always a good reminder to see that the other half live lives just as jacked up as the rest of us, probably more so since money makes people targets. The family dynamic is real and the frustration and anger that Sam experiences is legitimate and accurately portrayed. Books should make you feel. Whether you're laughing, crying or chucking your book (not your iPad I hope) at the wall because you're so frustrated. Good books linger with you and that's what this one does to me. Plus I love Logan, even with his hyena laugh. I can't help it, he had me at Ass skirts and Cupcakes. ;)
Now I freaking HATE fangirling by myself so like all of my previous Indie Author Fridays, I'm giving everyone the chance to join me in my fangirl freak outs before Fallen Fourth Down and Mason drop to give me book hangovers again. So what's up for grabs? Well Fall Crest High is FREE on Amazon right now (So you have no excuse. Go one click NOW), but I'll supply the other three books in the series. :D a Rafflecopter giveaway
