Kindle Countdown Deal

Did you know this:

On a sunny day in 455 B.C., while walking on a beach under blue sky, the Greek playwright Aeschylus was said to have been killed by what probably was a bearded vulture who mistook the writer’s bald head for a stone and dropped a tortoise on it!

This and many other stories appear in Extraordinary Birds, which is Book 1 of my series SURFING A MAGICAL INTERNET.

Starting on July 31, 2014 and lasting for a week, the Kindle edition of this book is available at a starting price of 99 cents in the U.S. and .99 pounds in the U.K.

Oh, my, Heinz! You keep putting out books in high speed. There must be some wizardry involved. :-)

I'll definitely be looking forward to Book 3. I am quite knowledgeable with mushrooms but know way too little about plants. I am especially interested in medicinal plants (to be used as alternative medicine -- not snake oil! :-)), poisonous plants (so to know what to stay away from), and desert plants (because we live in high-desert area).

The publishing of my books has stalled. We have ongoing problems with our real estate properties (our main source of income). Maintenance hassles, insurance issues, legal problems with crooked contractors, tenants who cause thousands of dollars damage instead of paying rent, spot-workers who don't show up, valuable water rights we are about to lose if we don't find anybody to farm the properties -- you name it, we have got it.

Add to this wildfire danger. (A wildfire came within 1/2 mile of our property, on July 5th. Mandatory evacuation was imminent.) And today we had severe weather with hail and torrential rain that turned our draw into a rapid creek and washed out our (1/3 mile long) driveway. (It will need several truck-loads of sand to repair it.) It also flooded our basement with about one-foot-high water. My husband is still busy pumping. Lots of food storage (on pallets) will be total damage. -- Well, at least, none of our cats got washed away with the flood, and we'll be safe from wildfire for a little while. So I am not complaining.

However, if things continue the way they have, my books will never hit the market. There is always something that has higher priority.

Besides, I had hoped to enjoy this summer a bit (with hiking and boating), as my husband and I hadn't been able to enjoy the last 4 summers too much because of health issues. So far, not a chance!

Well, there is always your book-series to enjoy nature digitally. :-)
