NaNoWriMo
I am taking part in this year's National Novel Writing Month in November! Readers took a vote on my Facebook page earlier this year to decide which of my story ideas I should write and they chose The Memory Box:
"What if a surprise delivery opens up a whole world you never knew existed?
When Sophie was just eighteen years old her mother ran off to Japan with a stock broker, Jin Tai, leaving her to look after her younger sister and take care of the family home.
Eighteen months after her mother pays a fleeting visit, 32 year old Sophie opens the door to a delivery man and the contents of her later mother's estate along with a letter from Jin explaining her mother has passed away.
Most of the packages contain vintage clothing and jewellery, which her younger sister immediately claims. But for Sophie, the most precious inheritance lies in an ornate wooden box. The Memory Box contains secrets and heartache she never knew about in her mother's life time.
By piecing it all together she will discover a woman she never knew in life, and a side to her family she didn't know existed."
This will be my first attempt at a challenge like this and I'm excited and terrified at the same time! Other than the blurb and a brainstorm I'm going in to the challenge without any real plan so it will be interesting to see how the story pans out and what twists it will take.
Obviously by the end of the month I will only have a first draft; the editing and revisions will happen after the event and so The Memory Box won't be finished until several months later.
I will keep you updated during the challenge and about when it will be available to purchase. I look forward to your support in November!
