I write erotica, science fiction or adventure. My writing is plot heavy, but with a lot of action. I got an idea for a romance novel, which I then wrote. My publisher didn't even want to read it, because of the style of my other writing. One of the editors did read it and convinced my publisher. Involuntary Nude is a very unusual romance and it's now my best seller.
I develop both the lady and (gasp) the male character. Not only do I develop the characters, I also grow them as a result of the events of the story.
