I once was a drug addict
I once was a drunk
I once was a thief
I once was a liar
Then I looked up to the heavens
And told the lord
To go to hell
I stopped believing in god
And started to believe in myself
And through time I found who I truly am
I found peace of mind
I cleansed my soul
Of the torment
Of being a follower
And I became a leader
No longer am I a sheep of Jesus
Now I am the shepherd of myself
Strength I found within
I am god of my universe
I chose my destiny
I alter my own state of being
Power over none but I
I empower my populous
To find the god within themselves
Higher consciousness we all must achieve
In order to strive for peace within
