The Artist’s Frustration

I think this goes for all creative beings, but there is such a deeply rooted frustration when it comes to trying to use a medium of communication in order to bring your creation into existence.

The stories in my head are perfect. They’re absolutely amazing and beautiful and so perfect. But then I start writing and rewriting and rewriting and at some point I just have to say, this is as close as I can get. Which is why artists and writers are driven to improve their craft. Because they want to get closer and closer to the impossible dream of revealing their vision to the world.

I started reading Curiosity by Alberto Manguel and this quote perfectly encapsulated this frustration:

Manguel Quote
