Alight Here

Alight Here Falkirk may be on the map due to engineering innovations such as the Falkirk Wheel and the iconic Kelpies sculpture but the town’s contribution to our nation’s literature has so far been overlooked.

That rumbling you hear in Central Scotland is Cargo Publishing's latest offering, Alight Here: An Anthology of Falkirk Writing . Edited by Hallglen boy Alan Bissett, the collection features stories and poems from bairns like Arab Strap's Aiden Moffat, Rebel Inc's Gordon Legge, Janet Paisley, Dickson Telfer, Karyn Dougan, Bethany Ruth Anderson, and, ahem, me.

My story Bruce's Taxis is a spin-off from Shop Front , featuring Niall and Ben on a night out in Falkirk's iconic City Nightclub. It has all your lad's night standards of vodka, arguments with taxi drivers, and, er, the Jacobite rising of 1745...

Alight Here is released on June 2nd and costs £8.99.
