Where's The Love

You know right now I am visiting various sites that I have allowed 1 free sample of my work to be displayed. I am always amazed at how many people just gobble up the free reads and have no compassion for the writers who often times slave night and day to churn out a good escape for the readers' pleasure.

At first I was a little miff at the comments that I received telling me how much they enjoyed the work and would like very much to read the alternate endings that I have on some of my novels; asking me to please post. Seriously, I gave you a free read to one of my bestsellers, now you not only want your cake but the privilege of eating it too? C'mon can you show me (and other authors) a little love and maybe buy a copy of the book?

I viewed other comments on other authors' pages and was surprised at how many readers tell us: "I've read XYZ excerpt and would very much like to read it; can you post that one too for free?" Seriously, can you just show a little compassion and understanding to the author and maybe throw some appreciation her/his way and buy at least one copy of their book?

Writing is a profession just like nursing, teaching, waitressing, and any other line of work whereby people engage in order to make a living. Writers just like you the teacher, librarian, doctor, engineer, janitor, etc. we are out here trying to make a living too. Seriously, show us a little love. If we the authors can show our love and support for our reading audience by providing you with good quality free reads that you obviously enjoy, can you not reciprocate occasionally?

Writing may be a hobby for some; but for the vast majority of us that are publishing our work; it's our livelihood and if you want us to continue to produce good quality reading material for your enjoyment and escape; then support the environment to make it possible: buy a copy of the book once in a while. After all if we have to give up our day jobs of writing; then what will there be for you to read? Sure, you can always watch TV, but honestly; have you seen what's playing lately on the bloob-tube? lololo Hey I'm only one writer with one opinion... And remember what they say: "Opinions are like assholes; everybody has one."
