So, you write M/M fiction?
Yep, I do. I write M/M fiction.
It has been brought to my attention that some people might be disturbed by the fact that my first novel is an M/M romance. They feel that by writing such a thing I could be alienating a large chunk of my potential audience.
Well, you know what? If that large chunk of my potential audience is alienated, then I’m sorry but that's their loss.
IT’S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP is M/M fiction; however, it’s also a story about two lost souls who, despite the imperative to hide their true selves from the greater world, find each other and fall in love. It’s a moving, yet sometimes brutal, human drama.
I understand that M/M fiction isn’t for everyone. I understand that this M/M fiction isn’t for everyone given the explicit language/drug use/sex scenes. I don’t like huntin’, shootin’, or fishin’ so you sure as hell won’t find me reading anything to do with those activities. So, my point is this: if you don’t like M/M fiction, if it offends you in any way, then don’t read it. It’s as simple as that.
Personally, I love M/M fiction (obviously). I love reading it, I love writing it. However, I also love reading and writing M/F fiction. And angel fiction. I love reading steampunk fiction, vampire, sci-fi, horror, historical, and good ol’ literary fiction. I also love reading bios and non-fiction. I’ve even been known to read the cereal box in those terrible, terrible times when there’s nothing else in the house to read!
So, yes, I love M/M fiction. And who knows, if you dare to try it you might just find that deep down inside you like it too…
