Who Hasn't Dreamed of Being a Rock Star?
I'm so excited to let you know that my debut novel IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP, book one in the Acts of Insanity series, is scheduled for release this fall.
The Acts of Insanity series is a story about a hard rock band struggling to make it on the Sunset Strip in 1985. More than that, it's a story about the taboo romance between the band's two most important members.
"Well, let me tell you this rock star - the world isn't ready for a gay guitar god, you understand me? The world isn’t ready for gay. One word of this gets out, one whiff of suspicion, and it’s over. Do you understand that?”
Many years ago, I was a musician and a performer. I also had a lover who was a junkie, and another who was gay. (No, I did not have these lovers at the same time - in case you were wondering.) Both of these beautiful men struggled with complex emotional issues, and with finding their place in society. Being a part of their struggle was heartbreaking. Sadly, neither one of them is alive today...
I was also married to a drummer who had his own set of complex emotional issues. Needless to say, we're now divorced.
IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP is not something I wrote in an effort to jump on the 'romance novel' bandwagon. The idea for this book has been swirling around in my head for a long time. Years, actually. It's only now that I have the luxury of time to get the words on the page.
IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP is not for the feint-hearted. It's raw and hard-core but at the same time it's fun and deeply moving. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
So for now, stay great and if you feel so inclined, drop me a line.
Cherry.
